I created this Prezi for all and any grade level to understand simple American Sign Language words. Students will become familiar with finger spelling and how to form their hands. We will practice finger spelling throughout class as well as during ASL time. Students will recognize the the difference between me and my, and you and your.We will practice proper greetings when students come into and out of class. Students will learn like and don't like. We will play a get to know you game learning these signs. During extra time in class we will learn fun color and animal words. We will also play game and incorporate these words in them to make it more memorable and fun. This is an over all way to present basic ASL to children of any age.
I want my students to learn ASL, its a fun and easy language to learn and remember. In high school I took one class and I still use and remember the basic words. I work at a restaurant as a waitress and its very convenient when I have someone who speaks sign language. It makes it easier and more comfortable for them. I think introducing a simple language like ASL will help students continue to want to learn it as they grow. ASL is so fun once you understand it, and its so fun to share with others what you know.
